Set on New Year’s Eve, FUEGO follows Gio, a guarded bartender who recounts the story of how a salsa class—and a lie from his brother—sparked an unexpected journey. Through the backdrop of family tension and romantic possibility, Gio must ask himself what it truly means to carry on his father’s passion, and whether he’s brave enough to chase his own.

The short film, written, directed, produced, and starring Edwin FrankO, became a breakout piece in 2022, earning festival recognition, including ScreenCraft Short Film Quarterfinalist and Best Screenplay at the International Conch Shell Film Festival and Official Latino Film Festival (Now known as NVISION Latino). But its legacy didn’t stop there—FUEGO became the creative spark for a full-length feature (2024) of the same name, recently awarded Best Screenplay at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival and a finalist at Urbanworld.

“This isn’t just a film,” says FrankO. “It’s how I processed grief. It’s how I learned to dance. And it’s how I found my purpose. To continue helping my community discover their Fuego” FUEGO is now streaming on Soleil Space and YouTube. It serves as both an artistic statement and the origin story of a larger cinematic vision that’s just getting started.
